When adding media in your WordPress dashboard, there are many factors that limit the type and size of files that may be uploaded.
While size limitations can often be modified or eliminated by adjusting PHP values such as upload_max_filesize and post_max_size, there are other restrictions that may come into play, which often cannot be modified. Here we cover a workaround to these restrictions by uploading the file via FTP or through cPanel and using a plugin to import the file into WordPress.

- Upload the file to the server via FTP or File Manager
TIP: FTP is recommended for larger files due to cPanel's limit on upload size for File Manager. - Log into the WordPress dashboard
- Install and activate the Add From Server plugin
- Navigate to Media -> Add from Server
- Navigate to the directory in which you uploaded the file
- Select the file(s) you wish to import
- Click the Import button
