Minecraft modpacks are curated collections of modifications (mods) created by the game's community, designed to enhance and expand the gameplay experience. These modpacks bundle together various mods, each adding new features, mechanics, items, creatures, and even dimensions to the game.
Modpacks can cater to diverse playstyles, from technological advancements to magic systems, survival challenges to creative building opportunities. Modpacks provide a way to personalize Minecraft, offering a wealth of content and possibilities beyond the base game.
This guide will cover Step-By-Step how you can set up any modpack on a Minecraft Server. Whether you are looking to spice up your gameplay or try out something new, modpacks can give an entirely different experience depending on the modpack you go with.
Add Modpack to Server
NOTE: Modpacks come in various shapes and sizes. Certain packs will require more resources than others, so please have the customer review the modpack's recommended hardware requirements to ensure they have the correct Minecraft Server Hosting plan for their needs.
- Log into the Game Management Panel
- Locate and double-click the Minecraft Instance that the modpack will be added to
- Click the red Stop button and wait for the server to fully stop before proceeding
- Download the modpack of choice from the official download page
- Upload it to the server using one of the following methods
- Using the Minecraft File Manager
- Via SFTP
- Using the Download Here tool in the Game Management Panel
- Navigate to the File Manager
- Right-click anywhere to open the menu
- Click the Download file here button
- Paste the Direct URL of the chosen modpack in the text field
- Click OK
- Ensure the files are fully uploaded and present in File Manager
- If it is a compressed file, such as a .Zip archive
- Right-click the file
- Click Extract Here
- If it is a compressed file, such as a .Zip archive
- Review the Minecraft Server JAR file name that the modpack is using
NOTE: We will need this information for Step 9.
TIP: Reference the modpack’s documentation to see which .jar file is the one meant to be used. - Navigate to the Configuration section using the panel on the left
- Click the Server Settings option
- Locate the Server JAR section and click Scan for New JARs
NOTE: This ensures the system has a current list of JARs to display. - Using the drop-down menu, select the JAR file name from Step 5
- Check the modpack's documentation to confirm which version of Java it requires
- Confirm that the version is set correctly
- Navigate to the Configuration menu
- Click the Java and Memory section
- Select the correct Java Version using the drop-down menu
- Click the Console section in the panel on the left
- Press
to start the service
IMPORTANT: If a world is already present, that world may need to be renamed or removed to allow the modpack to generate a world and start as intended properly.
