This article covers how to complete a primary domain change from your Account Management Panel (AMP). This can be done for any of our hosting plans.
Before making any changes to your primary domain, it is important to understand what other things will be affected. To aid our explanations, we will be using currentprimary.com to indicate your current primary domain and newprimary.com for your new primary domain.
- Email - All of the email accounts created for currentprimary.com will turn into newprimary.com accounts. You@currentprimary.com will be You@newprimary.com.
- If you still require You@currentprimary.com then you can add currentprimary.com to your cPanel again as either a parked or addon domain name and recreate the email account.
- Please do note that this is not always the case. If you have a parked domain with emails that have the same username as the main domain and you change your main domain to that parked domain, your emails may not change.
- Files - If newprimary.com was an addon domain name and all of the files were located in public_html/newprimary, you will need to re-upload the files back to public_html.
- Subdomains - All of your subdomains.currentprimary.com will turn into subdomains.newprimary.com. Sales.currentprimary.com will be Sales.newprimary.com.
- All subdomain names must be recreated if still needed.
- Search Engine Rank - If you are changing your website’s domain name, keep in mind that this could affect your rank in search engines. Instead, Google recommends that you set up a 301 redirect, which lets search engines know the website is permanently moving.

- On the My Account page in AMP, click the Change Primary Domain icon
- Scroll down and select the addon domain you would like to use or choose to Add a Different Domain and type in a domain that is not listed in the menu
- Click Change Primary Domain and wait for the domain to change
NOTE: This could take several minutes to update. - Once the change has been processed you will be taken to My Subscriptions confirming the change
