Let's Encrypt is a non-profit certificate authority providing free automated SSL certificates, which can be used as an alternate provider for AutoSSL certificates. While the default AutoSSL provider, cPanel (powered by Sectigo), meets the needs of most users, there are situations where Let's Encrypt may be beneficial or preferred.
Let's Encrypt certificates can issue faster than the default cPanel provider and can also secure wildcard subdomains, unlike the default provider. However, unlike the default provider, Let’s Encrypt imposes rate and size limits on its issued certificates.
Here we cover the steps to install and enable the Let's Encrypt AutoSSL provider on your VPS or dedicated server. Let's Encrypt is not available on our shared hosting.
