Forwarder-only email account delivers to the forwarder recipient properly, but also generates a bounce error. This can happen because the account originally existed and was not fully removed. Renaming the forwarder-only email address in the ~/mail/domain/ folder if it is missing from the ~/etc file should resolve the issue.
An example of the error is as follows.
forward@domain.com
LMTP error after RCPT TO:<forward@domain.com>:
550 5.1.1 <forward@domain.com> User doesn't exist:
forward@domain.com
