In a WP Multisite environment, plugins and themes are installed from the Network Admin menu by the Super Admin user rather than by the administrators of the individual sites.
Here, we cover the steps to enable a specific theme on a WordPress Multisite network as the WP Multisite super admin. Once enabled, the theme can then be activated.

Enable Theme
NOTE: Individual site administrators cannot install or enable themes and plugins in Multisite installations.
- Confirm the site is a WP Multisite
- Log into the WordPress dashboard as the Super Admin user
- Click on My Sites
- Hover over Network Admin
- Click on Sites
- Click Edit below the site you wish to modify
- Navigate to the Themes tab
- Click Enable under the name of the desired theme
TIP: Use the checkboxes and Bulk actions drop-down to enable multiple.
NOTE: This will make the selected theme(s) available, which can be activated from the individual site's dashboard.
