By default, phpMyAdmin is limited to 50MB for SQL file uploads. For larger sites, we may need to increase this limit. This can only be done on VPS and Dedicated servers with Root WHM access. If a larger database needs imported on Shared, WordPress, or non-VPS reseller hosting, it will need to be imported from the command line.
This article will cover how to increase phpMyAdmin upload size from Root WHM.
Tweak WHM Settings
IMPORTANT: This solution will require root access. If this needs to be obtained, follow the guide on requesting root access.
- Log into Root WHM
- Go to Tweak Settings, located under Server Configuration
- Click the PHP tab or search for
cPanel PHP max POST size
andcPanel PHP max upload size
- Update both values
NOTE: The maximum value hard-coded by cPanel is 2047MB - Click Save
