Older versions of Joomla are not compatible with PHP 7.0+. When PHP 7.0+ is used on Joomla 1.6, 1.7, 2.5, or an earlier version, the website will show a 500 error or a white screen. Viewing the error log may show an error similar to the following.

Changing the PHP Version
- Log into the cPanel
- Navigate to MultiPHP Manager, located in the Software section
- Review the PHP version the site is set to
- If the Joomla site is set to PHP version 7.0+, change the PHP Version to 5.6

CAUTION: Joomla 2.5 and earlier have reached end of life and are no longer being supported by Joomla. If possible, please consider upgrading to an up-to-date version of Joomla.
