Frequent email notifications from your server regarding services failing can be a major cause for concern. These notifications have subject lines that look as follows and usually indicate that something on your server is not functioning properly
[secure.domain.com] FAILED ⛔: tailwatchd (1xxx.2xx.3xx.4xx)
The specific service(s) failing may vary and could include httpd, exim, dovecot, mysql, spamd, and cpsrvd among others. While receiving one such email occasionally is not out of the ordinary, if you begin receiving these notifications frequently, this would typically mean something on your server is using all of your available CPU, memory, or disk space and may require in-depth analysis to find the cause.
Sometimes they may even be false positives. In either case, you may wish to disable the notifications due to how frequently you receive them. Here we detail the steps to disable service failure notifications on your VPS or Dedicated server.
