This article covers how to edit a file from the File Manager in cPanel. cPanel allows files to be edited through its web interface, rather than requiring you to connect over FTP or SSH to edit or modify a file.

Editing a File
- Log into cPanel
- Navigate to File Manager, located in the Files section
- Navigate to the desired directory
NOTE: A common directory is public_html, which is the default document root of the primary domain on a cPanel account. It is common to use the Document Root of addon domains as well. - Click once on the desired file
- On the menu bar on the top, click Edit
TIP: An alternative method is to right-click on the file and click Edit from the pop-up menu.
- If a popup comes up regarding encoding checks, click Edit on that popup
- Make the desired changes to the file
- To save, click Save Changes at the top right
