On VPS and Dedicated servers where email is heavily utilized, managing disk space is vital. This starts with setting storage limits for email accounts to ensure they don't grow too large.
However, users are often unaware that they are nearing the quota for their email account, which can result in the mailbox becoming full, preventing incoming and outgoing emails from functioning. Here we cover the steps to enable notifications so that email users are alerted when their mailbox is close to full.

Modifying the Notifications Settings
IMPORTANT: This solution will require root access. If this needs to be obtained, follow the guide on requesting root access.
- Log into Root WHM
- Expand the Server Configuration dropdown and select Tweak Settings
- Navigate to the Notifications tab
- Locate Enable mailbox usage warnings and change the radio button from Off to On
TIP: The settings that follow this one can be used to modify the percentage at which a notification is triggered. There are three types of notifications - "warn", "critical", and "full" - for which you can specify a percentage to trigger a notification. These default to 80%, 90%, and 98% respectively. When using these default values, an email account with a limit of 10 GB would receive a notification when they have used 8 GB, 9 GB, and 9.8 GB of space. - Click the Save button at the bottom of the page
