In Minecraft, worlds are procedurally generated virtual landscapes where players embark on their adventures. These worlds consist of various biomes, terrains, and structures, ranging from lush forests and expansive oceans to towering mountains and hidden caves.
Deleting a Minecraft world may be required when you want to generate a specific world type or seed. This article will go over how you can remove the existing world on your server.
Delete a World
- Log into the Game Management Panel
- Locate and double-click the Minecraft Instance
- On this screen, click Stop and wait for the server to fully stop before proceeding
- Once the server is stopped, click the File Manager icon at the bottom of the panel on the left
- Locate the World folder and click the 3 dots to the right of it
- Click Trash
CAUTION: Clicking Trash will permanently remove the world. Please ensure you have a backup or rename the world folder instead if they wish to keep it for future use.
IMPORTANT: Depending on the server type, you may have to remove more directories. In the case of servers running on paper or spigot, your world will be separated into 3 folders: world, world_nether, and world_the_end.
NOTE: In cases where you have updated your world name, the directory names will also be different. For example, if the world name was set to myworld, the directory will be called myworld instead of world. The same applies to the subsequent folders for server types like paper or spigot. They will be myworld_the_end and myworld_nether.
TIP: If you wish to use a custom Seed or adjust the world type, you will need to adjust the server.properties file before recreating the world.
