DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication and Conformance) is used to validate emails in order to prevent spoofing and contains a set of rules that work with DKIM and SPF records to provide security.
Here we discuss how to add a DMARC record for a domain. This process involves using the cPanel Zone Editor.
DNS changes can take 4 to 24 hours to propagate across the web.
Add DMARC Record for a Domain
- Log into cPanel
- Locate the Domains section
- Click the Zone Editor icon
- Find the appropriate domain
- Click Manage to the right of the domain
- Click the down arrow on the right side of the Add Record button
- Click Add DMARC Record
- Choose the desired setup policy: None, Quarantine, or Reject
TIP: View the follow section in dmarc.org's FAQ page on why DMARC is needed and what action each policy triggers.-
If choosing None as the setup policy for the DMARC record this means that the Domain Owner is not asking the Receiver to take action if a DMARC check fails
-
Aggregated and Full Failure Reports can be set up to send to a specific email address if desired
CAUTION: If unsure whether or not these reports are wanted, view the following section in dmarc.org's FAQ page on Failure Reports before taking any action. -
If reports are desired after viewing the FAQ above, click Optional Parameters to access the available options
