Upload File in File Manager

This article covers how to upload a file to the File Manager in cPanel.  cPanel allows files to be uploaded from your local device to the server through its web interface, rather than requiring you to connect over FTP or SFTP to upload a file.

Uploading a File

1. Log into cPanel
2. Navigate to File Manager, located in the Files section
   
3. Locate and double-click the site's document root
4. Select the Upload icon from the top menu bar
   
5. Click the Select File button to choose the file from the local device
   
   TIP: The maximum upload size in the File Manager is 1,000 MB.  This limit can be increased if you are on a VPS or higher. You can upload larger files using FTP if you're on Shared hosting.
6. Select the file and click Open
7. Test in a web browser that the file was uploaded correctly
