This guide shows how to move files between directories using cPanel File Manager. This process could be used to move website files to a newly created addon/subdomain Document Root.

Move Files
- Log into cPanel
- Add the domain to cPanel as an addon domain or subdomain if it is not added
TIP: For a domain that already exists on the server locate the Document Root. - Access File Manager and browse to the location where the needed files are located.
- Using the mouse, select the files needed moved
TIP: To select more than one file hold the CTRL button on the keyboard while selecting files with the mouse.
TIP: To select a range of files hold the SHIFT button on the keyboard and select the first and last file with the mouse. All files between should be highlighted as well. - Move files by right-clicking on the highlighted files, choosing Move, and entering the new location in the following popup
- Alternatively, the files can be dragged and dropped to move files from the right side of the File Manager window to the folder list on the left
