Here we discuss steps to find email client connection settings within cPanel.
These settings with help with troubleshooting connection issues between the server and email client software.
Locate Email Client Connection Settings
- Log into the relevant cPanel that contains the email account being configured
- Go to Email Accounts in cPanel
- Find the email account/address
- On the right-hand side, click Connect Devices
- Review Secure SSL/TLS Settings or Non-SSL Settings
NOTE: Secure SSL/TLS Settings are for when an SSL is installed, whereas Non-SSL Settings are for when an SSL is not installed.
TIP: If the domain name itself or subdomain mail.domain.com is suggested in cPanel for the secure SSL/TLS hostname value, using the actual server hostname instead is recommended. The server hostname value can be found in the browser address bar when logged into cPanel.
EXAMPLE: secure###.inmotionhosting.com
REPLACE: Replace ### with the number combination listed at the beginning of the URL when logged into cPanel and exclude everything after secure###.inmotionhosting.com.
