Transfer Email from Previous Host Using Thunderbird

These steps explain how to use Thunderbird to transfer email between servers.  This is helpful if email data from a previous hosting provider needs to be copied to email accounts on the InMotion Hosting server.  

Email Transfer Using Thunderbird

1. Visit the Thunderbird website to download and install the appropriate version of Thunderbird
2. Configure Thunderbird to connect to your old server 
   1. Contact your previous provider for proper settings
      CAUTION: Be sure to set up the account using IMAP protocol.
3. Create a new email address in cPanel
4. Configure an additional email address in Thunderbird using the settings for the newly created email address at your InMotion Hosting server
   CAUTION: Be sure to set up the account using IMAP protocol.
5. Use the mouse and drag/drop emails from the old server account to the new server, one folder at a time
