These steps detail how to adjust DNS records and Email Routing within cPanel to point email to Outlook 365.
Making changes in the InMotion Hosting DNS Zone Editor using cPanel requires the domain to use InMotion Hosting nameservers. Otherwise, the changes will not update on the web. If the domain uses third-party nameservers, DNS changes would need to occur in the third-party DNS zone.
Additionally, always remember that DNS changes can take 4 to 24 hours to fully update/propagate.

DNS Changes for Outlook 365 Email
- Log into cPanel
- Navigate to Zone Editor, located in the Domains section
- Locate the specific domain and select Manage
- Locate and edit or create the following DNS records:
NOTE: Refer to the articles related to adding an MX record, adding a CNAME record, and adding a TXT record within cPanel.
CAUTION: Remove the previous MX record completely. Leaving the old MX record present can cause email delivery interference.

REPLACE: @ with the full domain name.
TIP: For the name of each record, cPanel will append the domain to each name being entered. For example, the autodiscover record's name will be formatted as autodiscover.domain.com. This is normal.
- Obtain and install the DKIM records
- Log into Microsoft at security.microsoft.com/dkimv2
- Select the domain
- Click Create DKIM Keys
NOTE: This will provide 2 CNAME records that will need to be added in the Zone Editor. - Create the CNAME records in the Zone Editor
- From cPanel, navigate to Email Routing, located in the Email section
- From the Domain dropdown, select the appropriate domain
- Select Remote Mail Exchanger
- Click the Change Button
- From the Domain dropdown, select the appropriate domain
