Here we explain how to manually download a full or partial backup containing your account data.
This is completed using the cPanel Backup Utility, which will allow you to store backups locally on your device for future use.
Using cPanel Backups
- Log into the appropriate cPanel account
- Click the Backup link in the Files section
NOTE: This icon may be listed as Backup Manager. If so, click Backup Manager instead of Backup.
- Click the cPanel Backups icon
- To download a full backup
- Click Download a Full Account Backup under Full Backup
- A window with a dropdown menu for Backup Destination and a place to add an email address will appear
- Choose the Home Directory (default) or a remote location for Backup Destination
- Email Address will be used to notify upon completion of the backup
- Select Generate Backup
- Select Go Back after starting the backup to return to Full Backup
- Download the full cPanel backup from Backups Available for Download area
- A window with a dropdown menu for Backup Destination and a place to add an email address will appear
- Click Download a Full Account Backup under Full Backup
- To download a partial backup
- Proceed to Partial Backups and backup the Home Directory or any one of the individual databases
- Choosing Home Directory will open a download prompt to save a backup of the home directory to your local machine
- Choosing individual databases will also open a download prompt to save to your local machine
NOTE: Partial backup of the home directory will include site files, emails, email accounts, and SSL data. The partial backup does not include information outside the home directory (such as databases, email forwarders, and filters).
- Proceed to Partial Backups and backup the Home Directory or any one of the individual databases
- To download a full backup
