This guide provides the steps to enable and configure automated backup in Softaculous on VPS and Dedicated Servers.

IMPORTANT: This solution will require root access. If this needs to be obtained, follow the guide on requesting root access
NOTE: If Softaculous is missing, it may not be on the account, such as Dedicated Server plans that have not purchased a license.
Enable Automated Backups in WHM
- Log into Root WHM

Navigate to Softaculous - Instant Installs, located in the Plugins section

Click on General under the Settings menu

Locate the Backup Settings section and make sure all boxes are unchecked
- Scroll down and click on Edit Settings
Configure Automated Backups in WHM
- In the Backup Settings of Softaculous - Instant Installs, the following settings can be configured:
Default auto backup frequency
Default auto backup rotation
Auto backup rotation limit
Maximum backups per user (Local & Remote)
Maximum backups per user (Local)
Maximum backups per installation (Local & Remote)
Maximum backups per installation (Local)
Delete Backup Frequency
Disable Backup/Restore Function for Endusers
Disable backup option during upgrades
Set Backup Directory
Set Backup checkbox pre-selected on Upgrade
Disable Backup Locations for Enduser
Disable Backups before Auto Upgrade
Disable Backups before Push to Live - Click Edit Settings to save any changes.

- SSH into the server as root

Execute the following code to enable Automated Backups for end-users
/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cli.php --update_universal --disable_auto_backup=0 disable_auto_backup_daily=0 disable_auto_backup_weekly=0 disable_auto_backup_monthly=0 disable_auto_backup_custom=0NOTE: Similarly, any setting can be enabled or disabled by passing the setting name in the command. Names of settings are in /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/enduser/universal.php
