By default, automated cPanel backups configured via WHM will run at 2:00 AM in whatever timezone is used by the server, but there may be situations when this is not ideal, such as other resource-intensive processes running simultaneously or when peak traffic comes from other countries. Here, we cover the steps to reschedule backups to run at a different time by modifying the cron job in Root WHM.

IMPORTANT: This solution will require root access. If this needs to be obtained, follow the guide on requesting root access.
- Log into Root WHM
- Navigate to Configure cPanel Cron Jobs, located in the Server Configuration section
- Enter the desired time under the Command: backup section
NOTE: The Day, Month, and Weekday fields should not be altered here. Days on which backups run are managed via the Scheduling and Retention section on the Backup Configuration page. - Click the Save button
